Ahoy there!
After a beat upwind from Manteo, we arrived in Silver Lake late in the evening on Monday. The following day we rode the ferry to the nearby Portsmouth Island, where a former lightering port and life saving station are located. After collecting a healthy amount of clams for dinner that night, we walked to the beach of the island to enjoy its untampered
beauty and go swimming in the surf. Once back to Silver Lake, Ocracosis set in and all the boys enjoyed walking around the island in search of cool shade trees and iced tea. For dinner we feasted on a famous lowcountry boil and prepared for the overnight sail the coming day.
